Our Company

Joe Samuels was born in Charlottesville and, after graduation from Hampden-Sydney College, joined his father in the real estate company started by his grandfather in 1913. In the real estate industry, the family has long been practitioners and advocates of local agriculture and farmland protection. Joe is a member of the National Board of Directors of Equine Land Conservation Resource (elcr.org), the only national non-profit devoted to the preservation of land for equestrian activities. He was a founding member and for many years Vice-Chair of the Albemarle County Acquisition of Conservation Easements (ACE) Program providing local farmers opportunities to protect their farms and livelihood. Joe also serves on the Board of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (cacfonline.org) and the Board of Worksource Enterprises (worksourceva.org). As a member of the Whitehall Ruritan Club Joe served in many capacities including President and as a member of St. Paul's Memorial Church Joe served on the Vestry. Joe and his wife, Owie, have protected in perpetuity their property, Long Ridge Farm in the Farmington Hunt, through a conservation easement.
